Cotra Consultative Meeting at The University of Eldoret Nairobi Liaison Office 2nd And 3rd July 2018

The Collaborative Training in Fisheries and Aquaculture in East, Central and Southern Africa (COTRA) project is an Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme. The project partners had a successful consultative meeting at the University of Eldoret liaison office in Nairobi on 2st and 3rd of July 2018. The meeting was attended by all the partners from University of Eldoret (Kenya), Makerere University (Uganda), Rhodes University (Republic of South Africa), Mzuzu University (Malawi), the Official University of Bukavu (Democratic Republic of Congo) who are target one countries with University of Abomey-Calavi (Benin), Bahir Dar University (Ethiopia) representing target 2 countries and University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (Austria) as the European technical partner. The consultative meeting was used to review project activities since its inception, the project implementation plan and final touches on the MoU. The objectives of the project include: a) Improved skills and competences of academic staffs in research, training and supervision, b) Improve the skills and competence of administrative staffs in implementing international mobility and c) enhanced quality of graduate training leading to innovative and fit-for-purpose professionals

The University of Eldoret is the coordinating institution with Prof. Phillip Raburu (DVC-PRE) as the project coordinator and Mr. Alfred Achieng’ (Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Science) as the head of secretariat. The project is offering scholarships and set to admit 12 Ph.D and 24 MSc to the partner universities in its life time. It will also offer mobilities for 6 academic and 4 administrative staff to benchmark of good practices.
